Baicalin is a flavonoid compound extracted from the dry root of Scutellaria baicalensis, a dicotyledonous plant. It is a light yellow powder at room temperature and has a bitter taste. Baicalin has significant biological activity, has antibacterial, diuretic, anti-inflammatory, cholesterol-lowering, anti-thrombosis, relieves asthma, purging fire and detoxification, hemostasis, anti-abortion, anti-allergic and antispasmodic effects. Enzyme-specific inhibitors have the effect of regulating certain diseases, and also have strong physiological efficacy of anti-cancer response.

Baicalin Extraction Process

Put Scutellaria baicalensis into 12 times (8 times) hot water and boil for 30 minutes, combine the two decoctions, adjust the pH 1~2 with hydrochloric acid, keep it warm at 80°C for 30 minutes, let it stand, filter, collect the precipitate, and wash with 95% ethanol 2 to 3 times. Suction filtration, drying at 60°C to obtain crude baicalin.best baicalin -Realclearbio

Suspend the crude product in 10 times the amount of water, adjust the pH to 6.5-7.0 with 40% sodium hydroxide, add activated carbon, keep warm at 80°C for 30 minutes, add the same amount of ethanol, filter with suction, and the filtrate is washed with salt

Adjust the pH to 1-2 with acid. Keep warm at 80°C for 30 minutes, place it for more than 10 hours, pour off the supernatant, wash the precipitate with ethanol 2-3 times, filter with suction, collect the precipitate, and dry at 60°C to obtain baicalin.

The effect of baicalin

Baicalin is a flavonoid compound extracted and isolated from Scutellaria baicalensis root, which has significant biological activity, antibacterial, diuretic, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and antispasmodic effects, and has strong physiological effects such as anti-cancer response . It has occupied an important position in clinical medicine. Baicalin can also absorb ultraviolet rays, scavenge oxygen free radicals, and inhibit the formation of melanin, so it can be used in both medicine and cosmetics, and is a good raw material for functional cosmetics.

1. Anti-tumor effect

In vitro, baicalin has obvious inhibitory effect on the proliferation of S180 and Hep-A-22 tumor cells. With the increase of drug concentration, the inhibitory effect is gradually enhanced, and the survival days of Hep-A-22 mice are significantly prolonged.

2. Anti-pathogen effect

Baicalin has a wide antibacterial range and has a strong effect on Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Sun Dongmei et al. have passed the in vitro antibacterial test against drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and the in vivo antibacterial effect on mice infected with drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Protective effect, observe the antibacterial effect of baicalin.

The minimum inhibitory concentrations of baicalin and compound sulfamethoxazole (SMZ-TMP) to drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus were 2mg/ml and 0.45 mg/ml respectively, and in vivo tests showed that baicalin (100mg/kg) could reduce the Mortality of mice infected with drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, indicating that baicalin has a bacteriostatic effect on drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.

3. Protective effect on liver damage

Use CCl4 and D-galactose to make a mouse model of acute liver injury, use colorimetric analysis to measure the activity of aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase in mouse serum; measure the activity of superoxide dismutase and glutathione in mouse serum The activity of peptide peroxidase and the content of malondialdehyde.

Results Baicalin can significantly reduce the elevation of serum aspartate aminotransferase (ALT) and alanine aminotransferase (AST) in mice with acute liver injury caused by CCl4 and D-galactose; The activities of substance dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) were significantly increased, and the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) was reduced.

The results showed that baicalin had a protective effect on acute liver injury in mice induced by CCl4 and D-galactose.

4. Anti-allergic reaction

The reaction structure of baicalin is the same as the desensitization drug disodium cromoglycate, so the anti-allergic effect is also similar.
