Lycium Berry Extract Nutritional Value:

Each hundred grams of wolfberry fruit contains 4.49 grams of crude protein, 2.33 grams of crude fat, 9.12 grams of carbohydrates, 96 mg of carotenoids, 0.053 mg of thiamine, 0.137 mg of riboflavin, 19.8 mg of ascorbic acid, and 0.26 mg of betaine. It is rich in potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, manganese, zinc and other elements, as well as 22 kinds of amino acids and multiple vitamins. The active ingredient is Lycium barbarum polysaccharide.

Main ingredients and properties:

Lycium barbarum contains alkaloids, coumarin, and a variety of amino acids.

Among them, the alkaloids include atropine, hyoscyamine, and betaine. Coumarin-based ingredients include scopoletin. It also contains 3.39mg% carotene, 0.23mg% thiamine, 0.33mg% riboflavin, niacin, ascorbic acid, β-sitosterol, berry red, polysaccharides, etc. The latter can enhance immunity, anti-aging, Anti-tumor effect is a compound polysaccharide composed of acidic heteropolysaccharide and polypeptide or protein.

Character identification:

The berries are long oval or fusiform-like, slightly flattened, with a length of 1 to 1.8 cm and a diameter of 0.4 to 0.65 cm.

The surface is bright red or dark red, with irregular wrinkles and slightly shiny.

There is a small raised style mark on the top of the fruit, and a slightly depressed white fruit stem mark on the base.

Softer and more moisturizing.

The cross-section is round, divided into two compartments by a transverse partition. There are 20 to 50 flat kidney-shaped seeds in the axial placenta. The seeds are 0.12 to 0.2 cm long and 0.4 to 0.7 mm wide, yellow, with fine pits, and on the concave side.

Obvious hilum.

The ones with large grains, red color, thick flesh, soft texture, few seeds and sweet taste are better.

 Microscopic identification:

Cross section of the fruit The outer pericarp is a row of flat cells with thick walls and a stratum corneum with serrated protrusions on the outer edge. The mesocarp is composed of more than 10 rows of parenchyma cells, the outer 1-2 rows of cells are smaller, the middle of the cells are larger, and some cells contain calcium oxalate sand crystals. Vascular bundles are double-tough, mostly, hashed.

One row of endocarp cells, elliptical, elongated tangentially. The seed coat epidermis is a row of stone cells, similar to a rectangle, with U-shaped thickening of the side walls and inner walls. Below it are 3 to 4 rows of extruded parenchyma cells.

The innermost layer is flat rectangular parenchyma cells with micro lignification. Endosperm, radicle, and cotyledon parenchyma cells contain fatty oil and granular inclusions.

 UV spectrum identification:

Take 1g of sample coarse powder (20-40 mesh), 4 parts, put them into 50ml iodine measuring flask, add petroleum ether (60~90℃), chloroform, absolute ethanol and 20ml of distilled water, soak at room temperature for 2h. After filtering, the filtrate is appropriately diluted with the corresponding solvent, and its UV spectrum is measured on the Shimadzu UV-3000 UV spectrophotometer. Test conditions: wavelength range 190400nm, absorbance range 03A, slit 1nm, scanning speed 200nm/min, scale expansion 20nm/cm.

Results The λmaxPet of wolfberry is 221.0, 244.0, 250.0, 257.5, 262.0(sh), 278.5, 335.5(sh)nm, λmaxCHCl3 is 243.3, 283.0, 346.0nm, λmaxEtOH is 206.5, 287.5nm, λmaxH2O is 198.0, 272.0(sh) nm.
